Total Fire Ban Advice - NSW Rural Fire Service

Hawkesbury District

Please be advised that a total fire ban has been declared for the Hawkesbury City Council area.

This declaration begins at 12 am on 23 September 2017 and ends at 11:59 pm on 24 September 2017

During a Total Fire Ban, no fire may be lit in the open. This includes incinerators and BBQs which burn solid fuel - ie., wood or charcoal.

A gas or electric BBQ may be used but only if:-

  1. It is on a RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY within 20m of the house or dwelling.
  2. It is under the direct CONTROL OF AN ADULT.
  3. The ground within 2m of the BBQ is CLEARED of all materials which could burn.
  4. There is an IMMEDIATE AND CONTINUOUS SUPPLY OF WATER available.

A Total Fire Ban generally lasts for 24 hours from 12 midnight.

PENALTY: Up to $5,500 fine and up to 12 months jail.
