Heritage Development

Hawkesbury City Council cares about heritage and the way that development occurs around the Hawkesbury.

Council's has a vision which includes the important focus: "Council's vision is for sustainable and livable communities that respect, preserve and manage the heritage, cultural and natural assets of the City"

The Council has a Schedule of Heritage Items which contains items of specific significance.

The Schedule which currently has approximately 520 individual items and 3 conservation areas and is now being updated by specialised consultants so that the Hawkesbury will continue to conserve significant items including buildings, areas and views.

The schedule can be found in Schedule 1 of Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 1989.

Free Heritage Advisory Service

Heritage owners are in a unique position to receive quality advice from Council's Heritage Advisor free of charge.

Therefore if you own a heritage listed item and you are considering repair and maintenance works, alterations and additions or re-development you are encouraged, to contact Council to book in for our consultant to come and talk to you about the proposed works prior to the lodgement of your development application.
