Macquarie 2010 Bicentenary Events - Picture Gallery
First Planting of the Macquarie Rose - 31 July 2009
7,500 Hawkesbury residents and visitors attended the Hawkesbury Race Club’s Macquarie Bicentenary celebration, enjoying fine wine, exquisite food and smooth sounds from 11am, while top class thoroughbreds raced from 1pm.
We were honoured to have Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales and her husband Sir Nicholas Shehadie in attendance for the celebrations along with Minister for Gaming and Racing Mr Kevin Greene.
The highlight of the day was Lachlan Macquarie’s 73rd Regiment of Foot Inc. depicting the daily camp routine and every day life of the Governor and his tour party. Muskets, fife and drums filled the air as the 73rd Regiment performed their daily drills.
