NSW Governor and NSW Government Celebrates
Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, the Governor of NSW celebrated the 200th anniversary of Lachlan Macquarie's swearing-in as the Governor of NSW and his term in office during 2010. Her Excellency is a great follower of Macquarie, a predecessor of her position of Governor of NSW.
The State Government of NSW also celebrated the bicentenary Governor Macquarie, the fifth Governor of the Colony of NSW. A statewide celebration program was developed and involved the NSW Government and its agencies, local councils and community groups hosting events. In particular, councils and groups who have connections to Governor Macquarie and Elizabeth (Campbell) Macquarie hosted a number of events in their areas during 2010.
Events across NSW can be viewed at: www.Macquarie2010.nsw.gov.au.
The NSW Government's Macquarie 2010 celebrations are coordinated by the State Macquarie 2010 Bicentenary Commemorations Committee.
