WIN a Governor Macquarie Rose and Winners
Hawkesbury City Council gave away 12 'Governor Macquarie' Roses during 2010 to celebrate 200 years since Governor Lachlan Macquarie was in the Hawkesbury area and named the Macquarie Towns (Windsor, Richmond, Castlereagh, Pitt Town and Wilberfocre) on 6 December 1810, during his term as the fifth Governor of the Colony of New South Wales.

AND THE WINNERS ARE…. Council has had an fantastic response to the Rose give away. Entries came in daily from all corners of the Hawkesbury and beyond. Winners of the 'Governor Macquarie' Rose for the months of January, February and March were presented with their roses at the official launch of the rose on 14 April 2010 by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales. Winners of the 'Governor Macquarie' Rose for the months of April, May, June, July, August and September will be invited to attend the opening of the Richmond Park Improvements to be held Sunday 7 November, 2010 to be presented with their roses. Winners of the 'Governor Macquarie' Rose for the months of October, November and December will be invited to attend the Official Opening of the Exploring Representations of Macquarie Portraiture exhibition at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery on Friday 10 December, 2010 to be presented with their roses.
