WIN a Lachlan Macquarie Governor of NSW Coin and Winners

 


Hawkesbury City Council and The Perth Mint gave away five 'Lachlan Macquarie Governor of NSW' coins during 2010 to celebrate 200 years since Governor Lachlan Macquarie was in the  Hawkesbury area and named the Macquarie Towns (Windsor, Richmond, Castlereagh, Pitt Town and Wilberfocre) on 6 December 1810, as part of his term as the fifth Governor of the Colony of New South Wales.

The Perth Mint says, "Celebrating Lachlan Macquarie's historic tenure as Governor, the 99.9% pure silver coin portrays two of his notable achievements – the Rum Hospital and a holey dollar and dump. With a full mintage of 7,500, the Australian legal tender coin comes with a  display case and numbered Certificate. Council has has an fantastic response to the Coin give away. Entries are coming in daily from all corners of the Hawkesbury and beyond.

Winners of the Lachlan Macquarie Governor of NSW Coin will be invited to attend the Official  Opening of the Exploring Representations of Macquarie Portraiture exhibtion at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery on 10 December, 2010 to be presented with their coins.
