Information: The Society was founded in 1984. Its role/aims are to promote and encourage the study of the local area (including the MacDonald Valley, Wisemans Ferry, Mangrove Creek, and Lower Hawkesbury areas) and to collect and preserve material relating to the history of the area.
Publications: The Society publishes a monthly newsletter 9editor: Robert Cousens). Books include: 'Road's End' by Ian Webb; 'Blood Sweat & Irons' by Ian Webb; 'The Ferry, The Branch and the Creek' (1988 and revised in 2002); and 'Hawkesbury River History' (1990 - out of print).
Events: Excursions to sites of historical interest and meetings with guest speakers are held on the last Saturday of each month. Meetings are held (with lunch provided) at the Wesleyan Chapel at Gunderman
