Disability and Aged Services

Peppercorn Place is a 'one-stop-shop' for Home and Community Care (HACC) servicesand is currently home to 10 local community organisations who support elderlyand disabled residents in the Hawkesbury.

About Peppercorn Place….

The centre is a leading example of the co - location of services and features activity rooms, meeting space, offices and specially designed amenities to suit the needs of users.

Peppercorn Place cost $1.36M and has been proudly funded by:

  •  Hawkesbury City Council ($750,000)
  •  HACC program which is jointly funded by the Federal and State  Governments and administered by the NSW Ageing and Disability  Department ($551,000) and;
  •  Department of Veterans' Affairs ($50,000)

Services…

Home and Community Care (HACC) Services are provided to frail older people and people with a disability and their carers, to assist them to remain living as independently as possible and to prevent premature or inappropriate admission to residential care.

The ten organisations involved are:

Home Care Service of NSW - Macquarie Branch

Provides assistance in the home for frail older people and younger people with a disability with personal care, shopping, housework and a respite service for their carers.

Services List

Peppercorn Community Transport Service

Provides a door-to-door transport service to the HACC target group, people living in geographically isolated areas and health related medical transport. This service is provided by paid staff. They provide transport to Day Care Centre, doctor's surgeries, hospitals and specialist clinics. They also provide transport for shopping, social outings and a youth transport service.

Hawkesbury Neighbour Aid Service

A volunteer visiting service providing social home visiting, respite for Carers, will accompany and assist with shopping, medical appointments, banking and paying of bills, recreational and social support.

Nepean Migrant Access Inc.

Provides informal and referral services to non-English speaking residents and Service Providers of the Hawkesbury. Convenes the Migrant Interagency and provides community development work.

Bridges Disability Services Hawkesbury Inc.

Provides recreational respite programs for children and adults with moderate to severe disabilities living in the Hawkesbury area. Also provides a Learning and Support Day Program for school leavers with moderate to severe disabilities.

Hawkesbury Complex Care Day Centre

Provides centre based day respite and social outings for senior residents with multiple or complex care needs living in the Hawkesbury area. Includes a multicultural seniors group.

Fern Haven Dementia Day Centre

Provides day respite for carers, and support and activities for people with a dementing illness living in the Hawkesbury area.

Services List

Hawkesbury Community Aged Care Packages

Provides assistance with personal care, shopping, cooking, light housework and transport to medical appointments for frail aged people living in the community requiring hostel level of care.
