Food Notification

All food businesses are required under the National Food Safety Standards to notify the NSW Food Authority of certain information associated with the operation of their business. You will need to update your details whenever they change, for example, if the ownership contact details, such as address or telephone number changes.

The national notification system is proposed to assist in a number of important food safety issues including:-

  • Food safety emergencies such as food recalls
  • Informing all businesses of relevant legislation changes and compliance requirements
  • Determining how many and what type of food businesses there are in New South Wales and where each is located

You can notify your business online at www.foodnotify.nsw.gov.au This is a free, fast and easy way of notification and provides you with a certificate of confirmation instantly. Free internet access is available for library members and visitors by appointment, at both Hawkesbury City Council's libraries (Windsor library hours are 9am-7pm Monday to Friday, 9am-1pm Saturday and 2pm-5pm Sunday. Richmond library hours are 9.30am-6pm Monday to Friday, and 9am-1pm Saturday.) Alternatively commercial internet cafes can be used or your business accountant may be able to arrange for notification on your behalf.
