Waste & Recycling

Latest News - Recycle your Batteries*, Corks, CDs and DVDs in the Hawkesbury

Australians are the second highest waste producers in the world. The choices we make affect not just in the home, but at the shops and in the office make a collective impact on the amount of waste we generate and the future of our planet.

The following waste and recycling resource pages provide information for all Hawkesbury residents about recycling collection services, household clean up collections, tips on how to reduce the amount of waste produced by us every day and more. It is important that we take on these positive actions to keep the Hawkesbury sustainable, clean and healthy.

Remember – the best way to preserve natural resources, reduce air pollution, save energy and cut greenhouse gasses is to:

  • AVOID  creating waste in the first place
  • REDUCE  the amount of waste you generate
  • REUSE  products wherever possible
  • RECYCLE  unwanted materials

Recycle your Batteries*, Corks, CDs and DVDs in the Hawkesbury

Photo of the council recycling stationEver wondered what you should do with CDs and DVDs that are scratched or you no longer want? Or used household batteries? And what about corks? Even though these items are not accepted in your household recycling bin, throwing them in the rubbish and sending them to landfill is harmful to the environment; not to mention, a waste of resources.

You can now drop off your unwanted CDs and DVDs, Household Batteries, and Corks in the recycling station at Council’s Administration Building at 366 George Street Windsor (along with your Printer Cartridges and Mobile Phones that Council has been recycling for many years).

These items can also be dropped off at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility located on The Driftway, South Windsor. For more information call the Waste Education Officer on 02 4560 4566 or email amanda.monaco@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au

*Household Batteries only (Car Batteries are only accepted at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility)
