Garbage
Hawkesbury City Council provides a weekly household garbage collection service which is available to all residences within the Local Government Area.
Household Residual Garbage
A lot of things we throw away can sometimes be avoided, used again or composted.
Don’t waste your recycling
By placing recyclables into your garbage bin, you are sending them straight to landfill. If you have recyclables that will not fit into your household recycling bin - drop them off for free at the Waste Management Facility (they must be separated from other waste).
- Avoid, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle - Tips of how to reduce your waste
What happens to my waste?
Waste from your garbage bin goes straight to the Waste Facility and landfilled. It does not get sorted.
- Landfill should be the last resort after you have tried to avoid, reduce, reuse and recycle
Household Residual Garbage Collection Information
If you’re unsure when to place your bins out for collection look up your street in the Garbage Service Directory.
- For night services, bins should be out no later than 5pm
- For day services, bins should be out no later then 5am
- St Albans, Wisemans Ferry, Upper/Lower MacDonald areas are only serviced on Wednesdays, fortnightly. To find your collection week, refer to your Recycling Calendar Area 2

A garbage service is not compulsory for any rate payer who has to ‘bring bin to top of road’, however, if they choose to, then they must pay garbage charges.
Place bins facing the kerb and at least 1 metre apart. Do not place near parked cars or low hanging trees.
