Collect a ‘No Advertising Material’ sticker from Council and AVOID creating paper waste
Globally, it is estimated that 100 million trees are harvested to produce junk mail each year. In Australia, 8.2 billion articles of junk mail are produced every year, along with over 650 million articles of addressed promotional mail.
Most of this mail is never read. Collect you’re free ‘No Advertising Material’ sticker from council.
If you continue to receive junk mail despite the 'No Advertising Material’ sticker, contact and complain to the Distribution Standards Board by visiting The Australian Catalogue Association site or call them on 1800 676 136.

Recycle your Batteries*, Corks, CDs and DVDs in the Hawkesbury
Ever wondered what you should do with CDs and DVDs that are scratched or you no longer want? Or used household batteries? And what about corks? Even though these items are not accepted in your household recycling bin, throwing them in the rubbish and sending them to landfill is harmful to the environment; not to mention, a waste of resources.
You can now drop off your unwanted CDs and DVDs, Household Batteries, and Corks in the recycling station at Council’s Administration Building at 366 George Street Windsor (along with your Printer Cartridges and Mobile Phones that Council has been recycling for many years).
These items can also be dropped off at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility located on The Driftway, South Windsor.
*Household Batteries only (Car Batteries are only accepted at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility)

Recycle COOKING OIL for free!
A free cooking oil recycling service is now available at the Hawkesbury City Waste Management Facility for residents and businesses from the Hawkesbury. Used cooking oil down the sink can clog pipes and still end up in our waterways. Recycled cooking oils end up as bio-fuels, feed for animals, and low-grade industrial lubricants.
Hawkesbury is the first Council in Sydney to offer a cooking oil recycling service. By using this service residents can take responsibility for the disposal of wastes and encourage a positive impact on the environment.
For ease in recycling, it is recommended you designate a container no greater then 20 litres, label it and add to it every time there is leftover cooking oil to deliver to the Waste Management Facility and recycle for free.
