Waste 2 Art 2018
Hawkesbury City Council will be holding the Primary School 'Waste 2 Art' Competition again in 2018, as part of Local Government Week (30 July - 5 August 2018).
'Waste 2 Art' focuses on the REUSE part of the 3Rs of the waste hierarchy, (reuse, reduce, recycle) to specifically show how students can give waste a new purpose by transforming it into a creative piece of artwork. Through 'Waste 2 Art', Council hopes to encourage students to reduce, reuse and recycle waste.
Students are invited to create unique and individual artworks that are different to their classmates’ artworks. The artwork can be either 2D or 3D. They must be made entirely of used/recycled materials. The creative works will be exhibited throughout Local Government Week at the Deerubbin Centre, Windsor with a presentation of prizes at an opening ceremony on Monday 30 July at 6pm.
Students will be judged as per Stages 1, 2 & 3 (i.e. Stage 1 = Years K to 2, Stage 2 = Years 3 to 4, or Stage 3 = Years 5 to 6) and four prizes will be awarded per stage:
- 1st prize – $200 gift voucher for art supplies
- 2nd Prize – $100 gift voucher for art supplies
- 3rd Prize – $50 gift voucher for art supplies
- Highly Commended – art hamper.
You must register to participate in this competition. Please complete the online registration form here.
Registrations close on Friday 6 July 2018. No registrations will be accepted after this date. However, entries do not need to be submitted until Monday 23 July 2018.
All participants will receive a participation certificate to recognise their efforts in creating their artwork and for being part of this annual competition.
