11 January 2018

From the Mayor's Desk

After celebrating Christmas with loved ones and friends, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our residents a very happy and safe New Year.

2018 is set to be a wonderful year full of great community events including the Hawkesbury Community Race Day on Wednesday, 24 January at The Hawkesbury Race Club – free entry for Hawkesbury residents and Defence Force personnel.

Council is kicking off 2018 with a free Australia Day community event, packed with entertainment, food and fireworks on the beautiful Hawkesbury River. I warmly invite you to ‘Australia Day on the Hawkesbury’, which will be held at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor on Friday, 26 January 2018.

Our special community day will start with a free BBQ from 8am, provided by the Rotary Club of Richmond and the Rotary Club of Kurrajong North Richmond. Council’s annual Citizenship ceremony will then take place from 8:45am. At 10:30am, the annual Australia Day Awards ceremony will commence. We will also have a RAAF flyover at 12:15pm in celebration of our new citizens and Australia Day.

Our afternoon event starts at 4pm, with a Travelling Food Fest, jumping castles, a giant water slide, face painting and lots of activities, finishing with a spectacular fireworks display. My thanks to all of our sponsors. To RSVP for the Awards ceremony or for more information about Australia Day on the Hawkesbury, visit www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or email events@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or call Council’s Events Coordinator on 4560 4404.
