From the Mayor's Desk

Christmas is a chance for us to reflect on the events of the past year and to give generously, from the heart.

Thank you to our community members who have contributed to the annual Mayoral Christmas Appeal, which is run in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Richmond. It’s wonderful to see so many people, both younger and older, donating presents for children and adults in need. The appeal has provided thousands of gifts for less fortunate residents of the Hawkesbury over many years.

Thank you to the service clubs, churches and community groups who have gathered residents together for the various Carols by Candlelight and Christmas activities held around the Hawkesbury. Many of these events provide fundraising for charities.

Let’s make Christmas not only a time to give but also to recycle. Following on from a successful program that is now becoming a Council tradition, ratepayers who currently receive the domestic waste service will get extra recycling services from Monday, 1 January 2018 until Friday, 26 January 2018.  Just put your recycling bin out for collection every week on your scheduled garbage bin collection day (red or black lid) to take advantage of this free service.

Christmas is the time of giving, community celebrations, festivities, hope and joy. I hope you all have the opportunity to spend time with or contact family, friends and loved ones. On behalf of Hawkesbury City Councillors and staff, I wish you all a happy and safe festive season.
