Mayoral Column

I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve our community as the Mayor of Hawkesbury over the next two years, following the Mayoral Election on Tuesday, 18 September 2018. I would also like to thank our former Mayor, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett for her hard work and dedication to the people of the Hawkesbury over the past two years. Councillor Lyons-Buckett has been tireless in her work for our residents during this time and has forged many strong links with all sections of our community.

I also congratulate and welcome Councillor Lyons-Buckett to the role of Deputy Mayor. We both look forward to continuing to work together for the community.

I’m proud to be elected as the Hawkesbury’s new Mayor and I will be working proactively to help Council partner with Federal and State Government to unlock further opportunities in education, business and employment for our region. I plan to promote the many positive aspects of the Hawkesbury and to encourage strong connections with our community, industry and government.

During my term, I aim to build on the many partnerships that we have developed with the community and many government agencies to secure the best possible future for the Hawkesbury. I also intend to lead the process of reviewing Council’s policies with a view to either updating existing policies, deleting older policies, or creating new, more relevant policies.
