Mayoral Column

If you have primary school aged children then why not get them involved in making some recycled art? Council is running its successful 'Waste 2 Art' Competition for primary schools for the fifth year, as part of Local Government Week, which will be held in the Hawkesbury from Sunday, 29 July to Monday, 6 August 2018. I encourage primary school students to enter as it is a great way to have fun as well as reducing, reusing and recycling waste.

The date for registrations for the 2018 ‘Waste 2 Art’ Competition has been extended to Sunday, 15 July 2018, so don’t miss out.  Artworks do not need to be submitted until Monday, 23 July 2018.

Students are invited to create unique and individual artworks that are different to their classmates’ artworks. The artwork can be either 2D or 3D and must follow the competition guidelines which can be found on Council’s website. They must be made entirely of used/recycled materials.

Prizes will be awarded for Stages 1, 2 and 3 (Kindergarten to Year 6) with 1st prize being a $200 gift art supplies voucher, 2nd Prize – $100 art supplies voucher, 3rd Prize – $50 art supplies voucher, and Highly Commended – art hamper.

I look forward to seeing all the amazing creative works this year, which will be exhibited during Local Government Week at Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor with a presentation of prizes at the opening night on Monday, 30 July at 6pm.
