A Georgian Parlour

Howe House is currently open for group bookings only. We apologise for any inconvenience.

2012 – present

The parlour is the only room in Howe House that has been recreated in an original 19th century fashion. Other rooms have been given to educational uses, or kept relatively empty so visitors can appreciate the construction of the house. The parlour furnishings have been modelled after the Regency or Georgian style as it was known, as it was during this period that the Howe family lived here. Using a selection of collection objects, reproduction furniture and antiques, the parlour represents the lifestyle of the Howe family and is a great talking piece for comparing the furnishings and pastimes of Georgian families in the colonial era.
