Free waste disposal advice for local business
Hawkesbury City Council is engaging with local business to become more informed of what challenges they are experiencing with waste disposal, and in turn, offering advice on how to become more efficient in reducing waste and potentially save money.
With an initial focus on small to medium sized retail businesses in shopping centres and towns, this exercise has recently been expanded to include larger retail outlets that deal with bulky goods.
The program, which commenced in late 2015, explores what challenges exist in diverting waste from landfill, through methods such as face to face interviews and surveys with business owners or managers. The aim of this program is to find out what barriers exist for business and devise a plan for the future to help them recycle more and waste less.
Council understands the current challenges faced by business owners, including: disposal costs; lack of space for storage; not knowing where to recycle their waste materials; knowing what can or can’t be recycled; and not knowing about useful services that can be provided by Council or other businesses.
Council staff have reported that feedback from business owners to date shows that whilst Council has been collecting relevant information to determine the needs of local businesses in managing their waste and recycling disposal needs, the opportunity is often arising for advice to be given to the business owners on how to manage their particular issues in this area.
Council is inviting businesses who would like some free advice to make an appointment with Council’s Business Waste Officer.
To book an appointment for your free waste and recycling assessment, please contact Council’s Business Waste Officer, Garry Baldry on (02) 4560 4598 or email@example.com.
This program is funded by the NSW Environment Protection Authority, as part of the Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded by the waste levy.
