Free author talk - Mark Tedeschi QC - Murder at Myall Creek
Mark Tedeschi AM QC and Senior Crown Prosecutor for NSW will visit the Hawkesbury on Tuesday, 5 September from 6pm to 7:30pm to discuss his new book, Murder at Myall Creek, the most sensational trial of mass murder in Australia’s legal history.
Mark Tedeschi will share the true story of the 11 convicts and former convicts who were put on trial for the murder of 28 Indigenous men, women and children in 1838 at Myall Creek in the New England district of NSW. Readers of this novel will see prosecutor John Hubert Plunkett’s battle to achieve justice for those murdered at Myall Creek; a man who was mired in contradictions and controversy and whose ideology drew him apart from mainstream colonial society.
Eugenia, Mark’s first true crime novel, was shortlisted in 2013 as a finalist in the Australian Book Industry Awards and the Australian Crime Writers Association Ned Kelly Awards. Mark’s second novel, Kidnapped, was also shortlisted for a Ned Kelly award.
This event will be held at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor and is free to attend.
