Open Day fun for pets, plants and people
Around 500 people came along to the Hawkesbury Community Nursery and Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter Open Day at Mulgrave on Saturday, 29 July, which was held to launch Local Government Week in the Hawkesbury.
Approximately 800 plants were given away and three animals had names placed on them for adoption while residents with new pets took advantage of the free microchipping, saving $53 per pet. Some dogs were also lucky enough to enjoy the mobile dog wash on the day.
Crowds also gathered for the Australian Working Dog Rescue demonstrations, and a BBQ that even included sausages for dogs.
Many people with ex-shelter pets also came along to share stories of their new lives while others took the opportunity to visit the Hawkesbury Community Nursery and receive their free plants.
During Local Government Week, Council is asking community members to make some important decisions about funding options to help to meet community expectations for asset service levels in the future.
There will be town meetings coming up this week: Maraylya on Wednesday, 2 August and Kurrajong on Thursday, 3 August. Please RSVP on (02) 4560 4444.
We want you to tell us what you want for the future of our roads, community buildings, parks, and town centres. We need to know if you wish your City’s assets to improve, stabilise or deteriorate, and to consider three options including a proposed Special Rate Variation (SRV). For all the details of the consultation and additional town meetings, visit www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/investing-in-your-future
Please check the Local Government Week program, as bookings are essential for some events. The full program is available here.
