Free extra recycling services this January

Hawkesbury City Council will give ratepayers extra recycling services between 1 January 2018 and 26 January 2018 as a special way to support residents with their recycling efforts over the holiday period.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett said “We all know that December and January is a busy time of year and history shows that the amount of rubbish and recycling also increases at this time.”

“The extra services will help households that struggle with the extra paper, boxes and bottles over Christmas and New Year.”

“It’s our way of saying thank you to ratepayers for recycling and to encourage continued recycling,” said Mayor, Mary Lyons-Buckett.

A weekly yellow lidded bin recycling collection service will operate for four weeks between Monday, 1 January 2018, and Friday, 26 January 2018 to eligible properties that currently receive a domestic waste service.

The service will be provided on scheduled garbage collection days including public holidays at no extra charge. Place your recycling bin out for collection every week on your scheduled garbage bin collection day (red or black lid) to take advantage of this free service.

There are no changes to the garbage and garden organics collection services. Normal services will be provided including collections scheduled on public holidays, even on Christmas Day.

The normal fortnightly service will resume from week commencing, Monday 5 February for those in area one, and week commencing Monday, 29 January for those in area two. Search ‘Garbage Collection Information’ on Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au if you are unsure of your collection area.
