McLeod Park Community Celebration Party
Council will host a free community celebration at McLeod Park on Thursday, 2 March from 10am to midday to celebrate recent improvements of the park, totalling $220,000. McLeod Park is located on George Street, South Windsor, adjacent to the South Windsor shopping precinct, which is a key destination and gathering place for residents.
Many local services and organisations are coming along to provide information, giveaways, and activities for everyone young and old. Some of the local services attending to offer you information and advice are The Department of Family and Community Services, Bligh Park Community Services Inc, Peppercorn Services Inc., Hawkesbury Child and Family Services, The Women’s Cottage, Hawkesbury River County Council, Hawkesbury District Health Service, Hawkesbury YMCA, and much more.
The celebrations will include free cake, face painting and balloon making, a pop-up library, a free sausage sizzle put on by the Rotary Club of Windsor, and many other games for children of all ages.
The park has been improved using $170,000 Council funding as well as $50,000 from the Social Housing Community Improvement Fund (SHCIF), from the NSW Government’s Department of Family and Community Services (FACS). Council is very grateful for this grant and is proud to announce the new picnic shelters and barbeques and fresh landscaping which have helped to create a functional, accessible outdoor community space for everyone to enjoy.
Lisa Charet, the Executive District Director for Western Sydney Nepean Blue Mountains District at FACS said "I am pleased to see the positive impact the $20 million Social Housing Community Improvement Fund is having in the South Windsor community. The three-year, NSW Government initiative is helping to improve the liveability and amenity of social housing communities in NSW".
"The redevelopment of McLeod Park means that local residents now have a vibrant meeting and play area to enjoy," Ms Charet said.
