Library takes digital to the next level

Hawkesbury Library Service’s new website is making the Library’s many services even more accessible, including a number of digital services and programs such as how to learn a new language and even how to find your perfect match!

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett said the new changes are impressive.

“Libraries are undergoing big changes, not just in the way they deliver services but in how they interact with their patrons,” the Mayor said.

“I’m delighted that our Library service is keeping up with these changes, and I encourage our residents to visit the new Library website for all that is on offer.”

The new library website launched officiallyLibraries are now much more than just physical spaces, they are also virtual, ubiquitous and mobile. The Hawkesbury Library website reflects this new reality.

The eLibrary section offers 24/7 online resources such as eBooks, eMagazines, online music, new languages to learn and Encyclopaedia Britannica. There is also a special kids section with lots of fun online learning tools.

The What’s On section provides information on the Library’s many activities and events, including school holiday activities and seniors computer classes, with bookings now available at the click of a button.

One of the most popular services made available by the new technology is Reconnect with Reading, which works just like a dating site except that it matches the reader with book titles and authors that suit their individual reading tastes and style. With so many books and new authors coming on to the market every day, it can be hard to know which ones to choose. So why not take advantage of technology to solve the problem?

Last but not least, the new website makes it much easier to find information about the Library’s collections, as well as an easy to find link to the online catalogue, in which you can search the Library’s collections or become a Library member. Library members can also reserve titles.
