Council Hours for Christmas/New Year 2009/2010

As in previous years, Council will be operating with reduced staffing levels from Monday 21 December 2009 until Monday 4 January 2010.

Council Offices

Council Offices will operate with the following changes:
The Offices will close at 3pm on Thursday 24 December and Thursday 31 December.
The Offices will be closed Public Holidays: Christmas Day, Boxing Day Public Holiday (28 December) and New Years Day. 4560 4444.

Expressions of Interest - Yarramundi Community Centre

CARE, CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT OF YARRAMUNDI COMMUNITY CENTRE.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are invited from community groups to manage of the Yarramundi Community Centre, Thornbill Way, Yarramundi. The community group can use the office space at the centre to accommodate program staff while also using the amenities and hall areas of the centre to operate services and programs for the benefit of residents.

In return, community groups will be required to manage the centre on Council’s behalf. The centre will need to be made available for hire by other groups and community members with the income derived from the hire of the centre used to contribute to the day-to-day operating costs of the building (electricity, cleaning, security, maintenance, insurances etc.).

Kerbside Household Collection in St Albans

Council's contract with Transpacific Cleanaway Pty Ltd is to be extended by 2 years, which would allow for the existing kerbside household collection service within eligible residential areas of the Hawkesbury to continue.

St Alban residents are requested to provide feedback to determine whether or not this service would be of benefit to them if the service was extended to their area.

Clean- up, prevention and noise control notices fee propose administration fee increase

Council at its meeting of 10 November 2009 resolved to put on public exhibition the proposed amended administration fee of $433 for clean-up, prevention and noise control notices as outlined in the Protection of the Environment Operations (General) Regulation 2009.

This administrative fee is to cover the extensive time and effort involved for staff to inspect, issue and follow up on a particular issue where a resident/occupier has failed to comply with specific legislation.  These matters apply where there has been a pollution incident where an urgent cleanup is required or where an activity is being undertaken in an environmentally unsatisfactory manner and urgent action is required. The fees are not something that residents apply for or request.

In accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1993, Council has resolved on 8 December 2009 to prohibit the consumption of alcohol in the following areas by the re-establishment of Alcohol Free Zones for a period of four (4) years commencing 1 January 2010 and expiring 31 December 2013 in the areas described, as follows:

Wastewater Operator

You will be required to assist with a range of general labouring and maintenance duties associated with the operation of Council's Sewerage reticulation system, sewage treatment plants and pumping stations.

Applicants must have an OH&S General Induction Certification, a Class C Drivers Licence and an aptitude in the maintenance of mechanical equipment. Ideally you should also have previous experience in the sewage field or construction/building industry.

This position requires regular rostered weekend work and applicants must be willing obtain a Class MR Licence, confined space entry certification and Crane Licence within the first 6 months of employment.

Salary: - Grade 6, $753.67 gross per 38 hour week plus an Industry Allowance of $12.40 per week and 9% superannuation.

We currently have an opportunity for Business Support/Helpdesk Officer to join our Information Services Branch.

In this role you will be the first line of contact for users by providing Helpdesk support. Your typical duties will include; call response, business application support, hardware faults, customer support of programs on PC’s and LAN and administration support to the IT team.

The person we are seeking will preferably have demonstrated experience in an IT support role, hold tertiary qualifications/certifications in IT, possess skills in Windows environments and be conversant with MS Office software. You must also have strong problem solving skills, be an effective communicator and committed to providing outstanding customer support. Above all you will need to be hands-on, flexible, and enjoy meeting the challenges of supporting a busy IT Team. Knowledge of the TechnologyOne software including FinanceOne, property, rating and records management would be an advantage.

Salary: - Grade 12, $970.73 gross per 35 hour week plus 9% superannuation and the opportunity to progress through Council’s Salary System.
