Richmond Park Renewal Celebrations

Come along to the Richmond Park Renewal Celebrations on Sunday, 7 November 2010 at Windsor Street, Richmond - all welcome!

A free event as part of the Macquarie 2010 Bicentenary celebrations.

Heritage theme festivities will include traditional games such as three-legged races, sack races, egg and spoon races as well as stilt walkers, theatrical types dressed in heritage costume and more!

The completed Conservation Management Plan for Richmond Park has re-instated the strong geometry of Richmond Park through the construction of a pathway system, incorporating the elements of the known late 19th early 20th century style. The project has been jointly funded by Hawkesbury City Council, Department of Local Government, Heritage Council of NSW and the NSW Department of Planning.

Highlights of the Richmond Park Renewal Celebrations Program will include:

  • 10.30am – midday Heritage Games on the Oval
  • 10.30am - onwards Music in the Rotunda

Midday Official Opening

  • 12.30pm Community walk around the park with stilt walkers

Australia Day Award Nominations 2011

The 2011 Hawkesbury Australia Day Award nominations are open for the community to nominate individuals that are worthy of such a prestigious award. Nominations close on Monday, 15 November 2010.

The awards, based on a process of nomination and selection by a Council committee, recognise achievements in the following categories:

- Community Arts Award
- Commemorative Plaque
- Sports Person of the Year
- Citizen of the Year (selected from one of 4 seasonal winners)
- Young Citizen of the Year (selected from one of the 4 seasonal winners)

Non-residents demonstrating extensive commitment or significant contribution to the Hawkesbury are now eligible for nomination for Citizen of the Season or Young Citizen of the Season (thus eligible for Citizen/Young Citizen of the Year) due to recent changes to the Award criteria. Both Citizen of the Season and Young Citizen of the Season nominations are taken all year round.

Development Applications Recently Determined

Notice under Section 101 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, the following Development Consents were determined by Council.

The development consents are available for public inspection, without charge, at Council Offices. Office hours are 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Suspension of Alcohol Free Zone and Restricted Alcohol Zone

In accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act, 1993, Council has resolved on 12 October 2010 as follows:

Suspend a portion of an existing Alcohol Free Zone within Windsor Mall George Street between Fitzgerald Street and Kable Street, Windsor in the vicinity of the Fitzroy Hotel and Vault 146 for the purpose of holding the Sydney Blues Festival – Windsor 2010 during the following dates and times:

  • Friday, 29 October 2010 - 7pm to 10.30pm
  • Saturday, 30 October 2010 – 1pm to 1am
  • Sunday, 31 October 2010 – 1pm to 10.30pm

Suspend the Restricted Alcohol Zone within Thompson Square Park for the purpose of holding the Sydney Blues Festival – Windsor 2010 during the following dates and times:

  • Friday, 29 October 2010 - 7pm to 10.30pm
  • Saturday, 30 October 2010 – 1pm to 1am
  • Sunday, 31 October 2010 – 1pm to 10.30pm

Presentation of Financial Statements as per Section 418 (3) of the Local Government Act

In accordance with Section 471 (3) of the Local Government Act, 1993 Hawkesbury City Council advises tha the Ordinary Council Meeting to be held on 9 November 2010 will include the presentation of the audited Financial Statements and the Auditor's Reports for the financial year ending 30 June 2010.

In accordance with Section 420 of the Local Government Act, 1993, any person may make a submission in writing to Council with respect to the Council's Audited Fincial Statements or the Auditor's Reports.

Copies of the audited Financial Statements and the Auditor's Reports may be inspected at Council's Office at 366 George Street, Windsor. They may be also viewed via the link Annual Financial Reports 09/10.

Submissions close one week after the above Public Meeting has been held.
