Local Government Week 2011 – Empowering Communities

Local Government Week will be celebrated in the Hawkesbury from 1-7 August with a program packed full of activities and events for all ages and interests.

National Tree Day is the first event scheduled to promote Local Government Week 2011 in the Hawkesbury on Sunday, 31 July 2011 at Yarramundi Reserve. RSVP essential for catering, 4560 4525.

Other events include children's activities at the library, free child restraint checking (3 August), a mini book sale and library tour (3 August), the Companion Animal Shelter Open day (6 August) and a special presentation on 'Making Sense of the Census' (5 August). A food handling seminar which is free to charity organisations (2 August), the annual Sports Awards presentation ceremony (1 August) and a community event at Howe park (1 August) will also be held to celebrate.

Proposed New Fee for Plumbing and Drainage Inspections

At the Ordinary meeting of Council held on 28 June 2011, Council resolved to create a new charge for the inspection of plumbing and drainage on properties covered by private treatment and water supply systems under a Water Industry Competition Act 2006 (WICA) License.
The new fee proposed will be one hundred and sixty dollars ($160.00) GST inclusive per inspection.
In accordance with Section 610F of the Local Government Act 1993, notification is hereby given of the proposed fee.
Any submission about the proposed fee must be submitted in writing and received by 5pm on 15 August 2011. Submission should be addressed to The General Manager, Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146 Windsor 2756.

Three exhibitions of contemporary and traditional ceramics including a survey of Master Potter, Geoff Crispin, who will be presenting a special workshop demonstration in the gallery on Sunday 7 August.
