2011 Hawkesbury Garden Competition – Entries Close Friday, 23 September 2011

It is your last chance to enter the 2011 Hawkesbury Garden Competition. Entries for the competition close Friday, 23 September 2011 and judging will take place during the week of 26 – 29 September 2011.

A maximum of two categories per garden may be entered. Categories are: best front garden, best heritage/formal garden, best urban streetscape, best acreage garden, best kids garden, best new garden, best non-residential garden (e.g. churches, retirement villages, hospitals, commercial landscapes) and best educational garden.

Biodiversity Month 2011 - Plant Recognition Course

To celebrate Biodiversity Month 2011, Hawkesbury Bushcare will be holding a Plant Recognition course. The course will be held on Saturday, 24 September 2011 from 9am to 4pm at Hawkesbury Community Nursery, 10 Mulgrave Road, Mulgrave.

The course is tailored to anybody interested in being able to distinguish native plants from weeds. It is free for residents of the Hawkesbury Local Government Area and Hawkesbury Bushcare and Landcare volunteers. There is a cost of $30 for those who live outside the Hawkesbury.

A light lunch will be provided.

Expression of Interest – Squad Coaching for Richmond Pool

Expressions of Interest are sought for the provision of squad coaching to the public for Richmond Swimming Centre’s summer season.

Coaching would need to be offered by suitably qualified person/s for members of the public on weekday afternoons with the potential for bookings on weekday and Saturday mornings. Lane hire for prospective coaches and entry fees for swimmers apply. Lane space is on offer from October 2011 until April 2012. Expressions of Interest will be accepted until close of business Thursday, 22 September 2011 and should be addressed to Sean Perry, Parks and Recreation, PO Box 146, Windsor 2756. Richmond Swimming Centre Open for School Holidays

Richmond Swimming Centre will be open for the 2011/2012 Summer Season in time for the school holidays on 24 September 2011. School holiday opening hours will be 10am – 6pm Sunday to Friday and 8am – 6pm on Saturdays. The Centre will be hosting Learn to Swim lessons, birthday parties, squad sessions and Swim Club nights between October and April. Other opportunities include private bookings, Christmas parties and presentations for sporting clubs and community groups. Windsor Wharf Re-Construction

As part of Council''s commitment to improving facilities for the community, a jointly funded program between Hawkesbury City Council and NSW Maritime recently awarded the contract for the re-construction of Windsor Wharf. Over the next 14 weeks the wharf will be closed for the re-construction. This will enable better access to the water for all recreational boating users and provide significant improvement to the current access.

Proposed Adoption of amended 'Policy for Payment of Expenses and Provision of Facilities to Councillors'

Under the Local Government Act Council is required to review and adopt its Policy for the Payment of Expenses and Provision of Facilities to Councillors each year. Section 253 of the Act also requires that public notice of the proposed amendment of the policy be given.

The proposed amended policy is now on public exhibition and may be viewed at Council's offices during normal business hours until Friday, 21 October 2010. Copies may also be obtained from Council's website or by contacting Abbey Rouse on 4560 4426 or council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Submissions on the proposed amended policy are invited and will be received by Council until 5:00pm on Friday, 21 October 2011. Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager and can be mailed to PO Box 146, Windsor NSW 2756, or emailed to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Expressions of Interest - South Windsor STP - Biosolids Treatment & Handling Upgrade - Tender No. 01811

Tenders are invited for the " SOUTH WINDSOR STP BIOSOLIDS TREATMENT & HANDLING UPGRADE" and will be received by the Council until 4pm Tuesday 4pm October, 2011.

The tender includes the completion of the design, supply of all materials, plant, equipment and labour required for the design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and process proving of the Upgrade.
