Hawkesbury Sport Awards Now Open for Nominations

Members of the community are invited to nominate worthy persons for the annual Hawkesbury District Sports Medal and Hawkesbury District Sports Certificate Awards.

The Hawkesbury District Sports Medal seeks to recognise individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to, or represented the Hawkesbury in, sport of any kind at a district or higher level for more than 10 years.

The Hawkesbury District Sports Certificate is for persons that have supported their sport for 10 years, 20 years or 30 years at the local club level. Nominees may be drawn from players or competitors through to sport administrators.

Nomination forms for can be obtained from Council Offices at 366 George St, Windsor, by calling 4560 4430, online www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or at Windsor or Richmond Library.

Nominations will close Friday, 6 July 2012.

Natalie Burton Memorial Award - Nominations Sought

Hawkesbury City Council is calling for nominations for the annual Natalie Burton Memorial Award on behalf of the Burton, Turner and Lawrance families.

One award will be presented to a student from a Secondary School within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area. This award is intended for a recipient who has faced a challenging circumstance and through their application and determination, overcome this adversity to succeed. This circumstance could be a disability, illness, serious accident, loss of a family member or other situation.

Members of the community are invited to nominate a student for the 2012 Natalie Burton Memorial Award by completing a nomination form which can be obtained from Council offices at 366 George St, Windsor, by calling 4560 4430 or online www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Nominations close 5pm Friday, 29 June 2012.

Public Meeting: Holmes Drive Reserve Plan of Management

Council is currently undertaking the development of a Plan of Management for Holmes Drive Reserve, Holmes Drive, Cumberland Reach. We would like to invite you to attend a Council workshop to be held:

At 2pm
On site at Holmes Drive Reserve. Attendees are to meet at the bottom of the access road into the Reserve.

The Plan of Management is being developed to take into consideration all users and surrounding landholder issues. Your contribution will ensure a better future for the site.

An alternate date of Sunday, 3 June 2012 has been set in case if wet weather. For confirmation please contact the number below.

Consulting the Community

Draft Delivery Program 2012-2016 and Draft Operational Plan 2012/2013 on Public Exhibition

Each year Hawkesbury City Council outlines its activities for the coming year through a Delivery Program and an Operational Plan.

What the Delivery Program and Operational Plan are about

The Delivery Program details the principal activities to be undertaken by Council over the next four years, commencing from 1 July 2012. The Operational Plan spells out the details of the Delivery Program by identifying the projects, programs and activities to be undertaken during 2012/2013. The Operational Plan also contains a Statement of Revenue Policy, which includes estimated income and expenditure, fees and charges, and capital works program for 2012/2013.

The Draft Delivery Program 2012-2016 and Draft Operational Plan 2012/2013 are split into three volumes:

  1. Delivery Program 2012-2016
  2. Operational Plan 2012/2013 - Part 1 - regarding activities, rates, fees and charges,
    pricing methodology and borrowings.
  3. Operational Plan 2012/2013 - Part 2 - regarding estimated income and expenditure.

The Draft Delivery Program 2012-2016 and Draft Operational Plan 2012/2013 will be on public exhibition from Thursday, 3 May 2012 until Monday, 4 June 2012. You can view the Plans at:

Hawkesbury – Small Business Week (4–8 June 2012)

Council will host a week of business activities, in partnership with
business support agencies and groups, to help small businesses in the
Hawkesbury to manage and grow. Activities, including seminars and
networking opportunities, will be provided by:

  • Australian Taxation Office – free ATO workshops and 'one-on-one' assistance. Experienced tax officers will be available to answer questions and provide advice on various business tax-related topics including TAX Basic and Record Keeping. Proposed Adoption of the amended 'Windsor Mall Policy' and the 'Outdoor Dining & Footpath Trading Policy'

Council has undertaken a review of its Windsor Mall Policy and its Outdoor Dining & Footpath Trading Policy, and has made proposed amendments to each of the same.

Each proposed amended policy is now on public exhibition and may be viewed at Council''s offices during normal business hours until Friday, 15 June 2012. Copies may also be obtained from Council''s website or by contacting Council’s Senior Property Officer, Nicole Spies on 4560 4482 or council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Submissions on the proposed amended policies are invited and will be received by Council until 5:00pm on Friday, 15 June 2012. Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager and can be mailed to PO Box 146, Windsor NSW 2756, or emailed to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Draft Wilberforce Subdivision and Development Policy

Council has prepared an amended draft policy relating to subdivision and development within the residential zoned land of Wilberforce.

The purpose of this draft policy is to guide decision making on applications for subdivision and development in the residential zoned area of Wilberforce village as covered by the Priority Sewerage Program. In particular the policy proposes minimum lot sizes for subdivision and gives priority for certain types of residential, community or emergency facilities.

The draft policy and supporting documentation is on public exhibition during the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm at the Council offices 366 George Street, Windsor for the period Friday 18 May 2012 to Monday 18 June 2012. The draft amendments and supporting documentation can also be viewed on Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Interested persons are invited to inspect the draft policy and supporting documentation. Written submissions will be received by Council throughout the exhibition period with the final day for submissions being the 18 June 2012. Submissions can be posted to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146, WINDSOR NSW 2756, faxed to (02) 4587 7740, or emailed to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au. Please note that submissions received by Council may be made public.

Under Section 147(5) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, any person who makes a submission to Council may be required to disclose any political donation or gift. Where relevant a Political Donation and Gift Disclosure Statement is to accompany any submission lodged with Council.

Council is seeking proposals from accredited financial institutions for the provision of banking services. The Contract will be for an initial term of three (3) years ("Agreement Term") commencing 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2015 with an option to extend the Agreement Term for a further One period of two (2) years at the discretion of the Council.
