Natalie Burton Memorial Avenue - Nominations Sought

Hawkesbury City Council is calling for nominations for the annual Natalie Burton Memorial Award on behalf of the Burton, Turner and Lawrance families.

One award will be presented to a student from a Secondary School within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area. This award is intended for a recipient who has faced a challenging circumstance and through their application and determination, overcome this adversity to succeed. This circumstance could be a disability, illness, serious accident, loss of a family member or other situation.

Members of the community are invited to nominate a student for the 2012 Natalie Burton Memorial Award by completing a nomination form which can be obtained from Council offices at 366 George St, Windsor, by calling 4560 4430 or online www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Nominations close 5pm Friday, 29 June 2012.


Consulting the Community

Draft proposals to restrict vehicles/traffic in Windsor Town Centre Public Consultation

In order to improve traffic flows in and around the Windsor Town Centre, Council is considering proposals to restrict vehicles over 8.0m in length turning left from George Street into Johnston Street, Windsor, and to restrict traffic at the intersection of The Terrace, Moses Street and Tebbutt Street to a left turn only out of The Terrace, Windsor.

Community Survey – Hawkesbury Community Consultation Survey

Hawkesbury City Council is committed to engaging the community and understanding what is important to its residents.

Council is currently undertaking community consultation to define the Hawkesbury Character and develop a better understanding of what residents see as important in the Hawkesbury both currently and in the future.

The consultation will be completed in stages and an online community survey is currently taking place for interested community members to take part in. The survey should only take a few minutes and involves answering several simple questions.

Your contribution to this community consultation will help us to set priorities for Council; allowing the Hawkesbury to continue to prosper both socially and economically. To complete the survey please visit www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

The survey will be open until Friday, 8th June 2012.

Hawkesbury – Small Business Week (4–8 June 2012)

Council will host a week of business activities, in partnership with business support agencies and groups, to help small businesses in the Hawkesbury to manage and grow. Activities, including seminars and networking opportunities, will be provided by:

  • Australian Taxation Office – free ATO workshops and 'one-on-one' assistance. Experienced tax officers will be available to answer questions and provide advice on various business tax-related topics including TAX Basic and Record Keeping.   • Hawkesbury Business Enterprise Centre (BEC): New Work Health Safety Act and Social Media workshops.

  • Windsor Business Group: Networking function.

Draft Wilberforce Subdivision and Development Policy

Council has prepared an amended draft policy relating to subdivision and development within the residential zoned land of Wilberforce.

The purpose of this draft policy is to guide decision making on applications for subdivision and development in the residential zoned area of Wilberforce village as covered by the Priority Sewerage Program. In particular the policy proposes minimum lot sizes for subdivision and gives priority for certain types of residential, community or emergency facilities.

The draft policy and supporting documentation is on public exhibition during the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm at the Council offices 366 George Street, Windsor for the period Friday 18 May 2012 to Monday 18 June 2012. The draft amendments and supporting documentation can also be viewed on Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Interested persons are invited to inspect the draft policy and supporting documentation. Written submissions will be received by Council throughout the exhibition period with the final day for submissions being the 18 June 2012. Submissions can be posted to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146, WINDSOR NSW 2756, faxed to (02) 4587 7740, or emailed to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au. Please note that submissions received by Council may be made public.

Under Section 147(5) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, any person who makes a submission to Council may be required to disclose any political donation or gift. Where relevant a Political Donation and Gift Disclosure Statement is to accompany any submission lodged with Council.
