Public Exhibition of Draft Hawkesbury Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan

To appropriately manage development, Council needs a strategic plan which considers the potential flood risks and balances these against the beneficial use of the floodplain by development. To do this, Council needs to consider a range of environmental, social, economic, financial and engineering issues. Through the joint funding of the Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) and Council a draft Hawkesbury Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMS&P) has been prepared.

The draft FRMS&P consists of Volume 1 – Main Report, Volume 2 – Planning Issues and Volume 3 – Flood Maps and Annotated Bibliography. The draft FRMS&P will be on public exhibition 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday at the Council offices, 366 George Street, Windsor and Council’s libraries in Windsor and Richmond for the period Thursday 13 September 2012 to Friday 16 November 2012 and can be viewed on Council’s website www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

Interested persons are invited to inspect the draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan. If you wish to make a written submission, please ensure that Council receives your submission by 16 November 2012. Written submissions should be referenced “Draft Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan” and can be posted to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146, WINDSOR NSW 2756, faxed to (02) 4587 7740, or emailed to floodplan@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au. Please note that upon request Council may release submissions received in accordance with an Informal Access Request to Council under the Government Information (Public Access Act 2009). Submissions may also be published on Council’s website or Council Business Papers.

If you have any enquiries please contact Philip Pleffer, Strategic Planning Co-ordinator, or Matthew Owens, Director City Planning on (02) 4560 4444.
