2013 Natalie Burton Memorial Award
Natalie Burton Memorial Award Hawkesbury City Council is calling for nominations for the annual Natalie Burton Memorial Award on behalf of the Burton, Turner and Lawrance families.
One award will be presented to a student from a Secondary School within the Hawkesbury Local Government Area. This award is intended for a recipient who has faced a challenging circumstance and through their application and determination, overcome this adversity to succeed. This circumstance could be a disability, illness, serious accident, loss of a family member or other situation.
Members of the community are invited to nominate a student for the 2013 Natalie Burton Memorial Award by completing a nomination form which can be obtained from Council offices at 366 George St, Windsor, by calling 4560 4430 or online www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au . Nominations close 5pm Friday, 15 November 2013.

The Australia Day Awards recognise achievements of Hawkesbury residents and organisations in the following categories:
* Cultural Heritage Award – for significant contribution to cultural heritage development
* Community Arts Award – for significant contribution to cultural art development
* Sports Person of the Year – for outstanding achievement in the sporting domain
* Commemorative Plaque – for significant contribution of a resident (posthumous 5 years)
The awards are based on a process of nomination and selection by the Hawkesbury Civic and Citizenship Committee.

Pughs Lagoon/Smith Park Draft Plan of Management
The Pughs Lagoon/Smith Park Draft Plan of Management will be available for public comment from 24 October 2013 to 6 December 2013. The 2008 Pughs Lagoon/Smith Park Plan of Management has been updated to align with Council''s strategic plans including the Hawkesbury Regional Open Space Strategy, and to respond to contemporary park user requirements.
The Draft Plan can be viewed at Council’s Administration office at 366 George Street, Windsor; Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor; Richmond Branch Library and via Council''s website at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au under ''Consulting the Community''.

Expressions of Interest for Community Representation on Council''s Sustainability Advisory Committee
Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified members of the community to act as community representatives on the Sustainability Advisory Committee. Community members are generally appointed to committees on the basis of their industry knowledge and experience, technical skills and/or their ability to interpret the common interests of residents.
Community Representation - Vacancies - Two (2) Community appointments
Council has established a Sustainability Advisory Committee to address sustainability issues within the Hawkesbury LGA. The Committee has been delegated the task of providing advice and assistance to Council to promote sustainable practices and reduce the ecological footprint of the Hawkesbury LGA. The aim of the Committee is to assist Council to integrate environmental sustainability into Council policies, plans and operations and promote sustainable practices in the community. Meetings are to be held a minimum of two times per year.
