Food Handling Seminar

Council is working to improve food safety in the food businesses and homes in the Hawkesbury. Currently, there are millions of cases of foodborne illness that affect Australia each year. People working or seeking to work in the food industry, and residents concerned about food safety, are encouraged to come along to Council’s Food Handling Seminar. The next course will be held on Wednesday, 26 July 2017 from 10am to 1pm at the Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor at a low cost of $53.50 per participant. The course covers personal hygiene, time and temperature, food preparation and storage, and cleaning and maintenance. Local Heritage Assistance Fund 2017 – 2018. Minor Improvements/Conservation Works to Heritage Listed Residential Properties within Windsor and Richmond Historic Townships

Hawkesbury City Council and the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage are jointly funding the Local Heritage Assistance Fund 2017– 2018 (the Local Assistance Fund) which is targeted at minor improvements/conservation works to heritage listed residential properties within the Windsor and Richmond historic townships.

Council is now inviting applications from owners or managers of heritage listed residential properties within Windsor and Richmond towns for the Local Assistance Fund, which provides dollar for dollar grant funding of up to $2,000 for minor conservation works to heritage listed residential properties in the historic townships of Windsor and Richmond.

Applications are now open and the final date for submissions is Monday, 21 August 2017. Application guidelines and forms can be downloaded from Council’s website at http://www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au

An information session will be held on Wednesday, 26 July 2017 at Hawkesbury City Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor, in the Large Committee Room First Floor (up the ramp) between 6:30pm – 8pm. The session will include presentations by Council’s Heritage Advisor and Council Officers.

Expressions of Interest

Expressions of Interest for Community Representation on the Hawkesbury Companion Animal

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are invited from members of the community who have a genuine interest in, and are able to demonstrate knowledge in Companion Animal Shelter operations, to act as community representatives on the working group outlined below. Community members are generally appointed to working groups on the basis of their subject knowledge and experience, technical skills and/or their ability to interpret the common interests of residents. At least two of the community representatives will be from the Friends of the Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter and local rescue organisations that are approved under Clause 16(d) of the Companion Animals Regulation 2008. Review of Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter Working Group

Community representation – Four Community appointments

This working group is to be formed in accordance with the Council resolution No.150 from the Ordinary Council Meeting of 9 May 2017. The working group will, amongst other tasks, collect statistics and identify trends in the areas of staff to animals ratios, vaccination and de-sexing rates and costs, re-homing rates and costs associated with handling animals from other Local Government Areas.

The working group will also provide advice to Hawkesbury City Council staff on best practice actions for monitoring, caring for and exercising animals, cleaning and security of facilities. The working group is to also provide advice to ongoing reporting arrangements to Council and the wider community.

Temporary position – up to 12 months

Hawkesbury City Council is situated to the north west of Sydney in offers the perfect balance of lifestyle and opportunity.

We are looking for a motivated and customer focused person to join our Environment and Regulatory Services Team in the role of Compliance and Enforcement Officer.

This is a varied role where you will be responsible for carrying out the investigation of complaints, inspections, parking patrols and a range of enforcement and compliance activities.

The role requires an established background in investigation and enforcement, preferably in a local government environment or a related field. You will have a current driver’s licence, strong organisation skills and the demonstrated ability to negotiate and action resolutions to technical enquires and complaints and undertake compliance and enforcement activities. Tertiary qualifications in Local Government Law Enforcement would be an advantage.

This is a temporary position up to end June 2018.

Salary; - Grade 12, with a commencing rate of pay of $1202.44 gross per 38-hour week, plus superannuation and the opportunity to participate in a 9-day fortnight working arrangement. A vehicle will be available for business use.

We currently have a temporary opportunity for Business Support/Helpdesk Officer to join our Information Services Team.

In this role you will be the first line of contact for users by providing Helpdesk support. Your typical duties will include; call response, business application support, hardware faults, customer support of programs on PC’s and LAN and administration support to the IT team.

The person we are seeking will preferably have demonstrated experience in an IT support role, hold tertiary qualifications/certifications in IT, possess skills in Windows environments and be conversant with MS Office software. You must also have strong problem solving skills, be an effective communicator and committed to providing outstanding customer support. Above all you will need to be hands-on, flexible, and enjoy meeting the challenges of supporting a busy IT Team. Knowledge of the TechnologyOne software including FinanceOne, Property and Rating and ECM records management would be an advantage.

Salary: - Grade 12, $1202.44 gross per 35 hour week plus superannuation and the opportunity to progress through Council’s Salary System.

We currently have a 2 vacancy’s available for Intermediate Plant Operator’s - Parks Cleaning.

Working as part of a small team duties will include, operation of machinery, rubbish removal, cleaning public toilets and maintenance of shelters and BBQ areas and other general labouring duties within Council's parks and public reserves.

Applicants must have an MR Licence, good interpersonal and teamwork skills. Previous experience cleaning public areas would be an advantage.

Salary:- Grade 6, commencing rate at $933.56 gross per week + Adverse Working Conditions Allowance of $40.66 gross per week + 9.5% superannuation and the opportunity to progress through Council's Salary System. The position involves early morning starts and participation in the weekend work roster.

Council recognises that addressing family and domestic violence is fundamental to creating a safer community for the Hawkesbury. The Draft Hawkesbury Family and Domestic Violence Action Plan provides Council with a clear set of actions and strategies to be undertaken in the coming years to assist the whole of community.
