Hawkesbury Regional Museum OpenHawkesbury Regional Museum is open! What better way to celebrate the Marvellous Museum week supported by ABC Radio National than to visit the newly opened Hawkesbury Museum. What comes to mind when you hear the word museum? Does it bring back memories of school excursions, rainy days with children, revelations of times past or an illuminating glimpse in to the future? Australian museums come in many shapes and sizes, with themes and collections of infinite variety. Millions of Australians visit museums every year, enjoying the chance to see the objects and the images that reflect both our past and our present. Hawkesbury Regional museum is home to a collection of temporary and permanent exhibitions. Be amongst the first visitors to experience the exciting permanent exhibition featuring the themes of the River, the Land and the People. Also available to wander through will be four interesting temporary exhibitions which include a brief history of the Scheyville Migrant Centre; Moving Images of the Hawkesbury; The Collectors: Eric Mitchell's model boat collection; and an eclectic selection of chairs from the Hawkesbury Historical Society's collection.
