The Companion Animals Act 1998

In 1998 the Companion Animals Act was introduced to set into law the rights and responsibilities surrounding pet ownership in NSW.

In order to understand better your responsibilities as a pet owner under this Act, please read the state Department of Local Government's Companion Animal's Frequently Asked Questions.

The Act itself is a substantial document covering many things and it is suggested that if required, you obtain a copy to gain a full understanding of it's meaning and implications from www.dlg.nsw.gov.au.
