Hawkesbury Family History Group

MarriageThe Hawkesbury Family History Group is a support and information group for family historians and is co-ordinated by the Local Studies Librarian of Hawkesbury Library. The Hawkesbury Family History Group does not have its own library and researchers are encouraged to visit the Local Studies Collection which holds a wealth of material relating to family and local history.

The Hawkesbury Family History Group was formed in 1982 due to the increasing popularity of family history.  The Group regularly donates research tools such as indexes, books, CD-ROMs etc to the Hawkesbury Library's Local Studies Collection.

  • Interested in family history research?
  • Tracing where your ancestors originated?
  • Come along & meet like minded persons & learn more about genealogy

Meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month (except January) from 10am to 11.45am in the Tebbutt Room in Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street Windsor, NSW 2756.

Guest speakers feature at each meeting, talking on a variety of topics, relating to family & local history. Attendance at meetings range from about 25 to 75, with some people travelling long distances to attend.

Family History Classes

The Library regularly runs classes relating to family history. To find out what classes are on offer, view the current Library Events Program.

The Group does not undertake research on behalf of others. The Library offers a very basic Research Service based on the current Council's Management Plan (Fees & Charges) on material that is unique to the collection and only available to people living unreasonable distances from the library, making a personal visit impossible.
