Aims are to introduce the children of the Hawkesbury to the joy and value of reading. To promote the use of the collection to children and young adults and to develop independent research skills. To maintain and develop and promote services and resources to the young people of the Hawkesbury.

Collections
- Preschool easies are often board books that are suitable to read to toddlers and babies.
- Easies are picture books for parents to read to young children or for early readers to read.
- CDs and cassettes/videos
- Junior Junior fiction books are for children aged 6-8 who have learned to read.
- Junior fiction is for children aged approximately 8-14.
- Junior paperbacks are popular books housed on the paperback stands.
- Junior collections are books, which contain short stories, rhymes and fairy tales.
- Literacy There are 5 levels of reading catered for in this section, from initial ability to read to fairly advanced levels of reading. They are colour-coded beginning with silver for the easiest level, then gold, after that red, then green and the most difficult level is blue.
- Junior non-fiction books are information books. Junior non-fiction is interfiled with adult non-fiction. It is marked with an orange sticker on the spine of the book
PreSchool Storytime
Come and join us for some stories, craft and fun. Suitable for preschool aged children and parents/carers.
