Solid Fuel Heaters
Solid Fuel Heaters, or slow combustion heaters require Council's approval before installation. Council inspects the heater for fire safety before written approval is given. Applicants must demonstrate compliance with Part 3.7.3- Heating Appliances under the Building Code of Australia and demonstrate than the model has been issued a Certificate of Compliance by the EPA.
The wholesale and retail sale of domestic solid fuel heaters is prohibited in NSW unless the model has been certified and carries a metal compliance plate as described in AS 4012 and AS 4013. The EPA issues Certificates of Compliance for model lines when it is satisfied with the emission test results in accordance with AS 4013. Purchasers can ask to see an EPA certificate of compliance.
