The Natalie Burton Memorial Award

Nominations are taken for secondary students for the annual Natalie Burton Memorial Award every year.

Hawkesbury City Council is calling for nominations for the annual Natalie Burton Memorial Award on behalf of the Burton, Turner and Lawrance families. Residents are encouraged to nominate any high school student who they feel is a worthy recipient.

Nominations for 2023 are now closed. Nominations received after 15 November 2023 go into the 2024 round if applicable.

Natalie Burton was a remarkable individual who died at the age of 32 from cancer in March 2003. Despite her illness, Natalie was committed to assisting doctors to understand the nature of cancer assistance, fundraising and promoting cancer services.

This award will be presented to a high school student in the Hawkesbury who has faced a challenging circumstance and who through their application and determination has overcome this adversity to succeed.

This circumstance could be a:

  • disability
  • illness
  • serious accident
  • loss of a family member
  • or other situation
