Council is developing a Net Zero Emissions and Water Efficiency Strategy and we would like to hear about your ideas and what you are doing at home to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to save water.

Providing your feedback is easy – just go to Council's Emission Reduction Survey at Your Hawkesbury Your Say at www.yourhawkesbury-yoursay.com.au/ert by Monday, 31 August 2020.

It can be simple individual changes like changing incandescent light globes to LED bulbs which offer up to an 86% energy saving, or planting a native tree.

Council is with the community 100% on this journey towards achieving net zero emissions. It will take a commitment from everyone – government, businesses, residents and visitors, but together we can achieve great things with a combination of big moves and small steps.

Council’s Environmental Sustainability Committee and Council’s Waste Management Advisory Committee are both actively involved in the preparation of the Strategy. Council is reducing emissions by making big changes. These changes include the Hawkesbury City Solar program, changing street lighting to LED lighting and powering 90% of Council’s electricity with renewable energy.

Further tips can be found on the new ABC three part series Fight for Planet A: Our Climate Challenge. The series challenges our thoughts on climate change and follows five diverse households from around the country who discover the impact of their lifestyle choices on their greenhouse gas emissions. The series airs on Tuesdays at 8:30pm on ABC TV or watch it anytime at https://iview.abc.net.au/show/fight-for-planet-a-our-climate-challenge
