NAIDOC Week 2019 will run from 7 to 14 July and is an opportunity for all Australians to come together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Merana Community Aboriginal Association for the Hawkesbury Inc. is leading a free family event and concert at Richmond Park, Windsor Street Richmond on Sunday, 7 July to celebrate NAIDOC Week.

For the Hawkesbury, 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of NAIDOC being celebrated at Richmond Park and this year’s event is set to  be bigger and better than ever. Entertainment will be provided from 10am to 3pm including live bands, lots of stalls and childrens’ activities. All are welcome to attend and enjoy a BBQ, bush tucker, face painting, art activities, and a wildlife display.

Community members are also welcome to drop in to Hawkesbury Regional Museum throughout NAIDOC Week for fun craft activities or to comment on plans for the food and medicine bush tucker garden that is being developed on-site.

This local concert and the NAIDOC activities will provide a wonderful opportunity for all of us to celebrate and share in the rich culture of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Council is proud to sponsor and to continue our support of this important NAIDOC Week event.

For more information about the concert, please contact Merana Aboriginal Community Association for the Hawkesbury Inc. on 4588 5144. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be postponed to Sunday, 14 July 2019.
