Did you know that every year we hold a free Chemical CleanOut event for Hawkesbury residents? This year it will be held on Sunday, 9 August 2020 from 9am to 3:30pm, at Hawkesbury Showground, Racecourse Road, Clarendon, entry via Gate 1. The event is run by the NSW Environment Protection Authority in conjunction with Hawkesbury City Council.

At Chemical CleanOut day, you can reduce your domestic waste and pollution risks by safely disposing of any potentially hazardous household chemicals by taking them to the Chemical CleanOut.

Only household quantities of household chemicals and items can be dropped off – up to a maximum of 20 litres or 20 kilograms of a single item. These include household cleaners and solvents, batteries, fluorescent globes and tubes, paint, pesticides and poisons, gas bottles, fire extinguishers, pool and hobby chemicals, acids and alkalis, car batteries, motor oils, fuels and fluids.

These services adhere to NSW Government COVID-19 advice and protocols. Before attending a Chemical CleanOut event, please place all materials in the rear of the vehicle. On arrival, please remain in the vehicle and a contractor will open your boot and collect the items. Onsite contractors will be wearing personal protective equipment and following physical distancing measures.

Further information is available at www.epa.nsw.gov.au/your-environment/recycling-and-reuse/household-recycling-overview/household-chemical-cleanout or call the NSW EPA on 131 555.

Hawkesbury residents can also attend most Chemical CleanOut held across Sydney and NSW. Please note that businesses are not eligible to use these services and should contact a waste disposal service directly or visit http://businessrecycling.com.au
