6 January 2020

Mayoral Column

I’m delighted to invite you to celebrate Australia Day 2020 on Sunday, 26 January 2020 from 5pm to 9:30pm at Governor Phillip Park, Windsor. Council is proud to host this free community event and we thank our wonderful sponsors Windsor RSL, Richmond Club and Hillbilly Cider.

The special event will include an outdoor stage with live entertainment including local artists and the HYPE band, carnival rides, food and drink stalls plus food trucks. There will also be free face painting, children’s activities and games, roving entertainment and emergency services representatives.

Every year the Hawkesbury is privileged to welcome new Australians as part of our Australia Day citizenship celebrations. We will welcome new citizens to the Hawkesbury at a special Citizenship Ceremony at 9am on Australia Day at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Windsor. Our Australia Day Ambassador will be road safety advocate Peter Frazer.

Following the citizenship ceremony, the Australia Day Awards Ceremony will commence at 11am, also at the Gallery. These awards are a special way to recognise outstanding community members who have done something special for our community, people who continue to achieve and contribute to the Hawkesbury. Everybody is welcome to come along and celebrate. Please RSVP to events@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or call 4560 4402. Visit Council’s homepage www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au and Hawkesbury Events Facebook for event updates.
