Mayoral Column

With Mother's Day being this Sunday, Council is encouraging you to shop locally.

There has never been a better time to support our local businesses – and they need us more than ever. Personally, I’ve always preferred to shop at local businesses because they are a part of our community and they are nice and close to home. Many local shops also offer online shopping and delivery too.

Local retailers in the Hawkesbury will benefit from your support, and you can purchase some great products from the many unique products on offer.

When you shop local, you’re not only helping the business, you are also supporting the local economy and the employment of local people. It also means that businesses can thrive in the Hawkesbury and make themselves a good business to keep growing and employing more people.

So when you’re giving mum that something special, make sure you let her know that it was locally sourced. If you decide to cook her something special, remember we have a lot of local producers that can supply the vegetables and other produce too.

If you would like to find out more about our local businesses and what they have to offer, take a look at our new business directory If you have a local business, visit the directory link above to add your business so we can help connect you with our local community. To all the wonderful mothers out there – Happy Mother’s Day.
