National Simultaneous Storytime
Hawkesbury Library Service will participate in National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 23 May, from 10:30am to midday.
National Simultaneous Storytime is a reading event that is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association of which the Hawkesbury Library Service is a member. It aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. This year’s book is Hickory Dickory Dash written by Tony Wilson, illustrated by Laura Wood and published by Scholastic Australia.
The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett will be the guest storyteller and Puddles the Reading Dragon will also come along. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite nursery rhyme character.
This is a free event with morning tea included. Bookings are essential, to book go to Eventbrite or call (02) 4560 4460. The event will be held at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor.
