NSW Women's Country Golf Meeting comes to the Hawkesbury
A NSW Women's Country Golf Meeting will be held in the Hawkesbury from Monday, 3 September to Thursday, 6 September 2018. The event will be run by Golf NSW and sponsored by Hawkesbury City Council.
The Women's Country Golf Meeting is an opportunity for women from Country NSW to come together and play on some of the top golf courses in NSW. The event is open to all female amateurs who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent handicap and are a member of a Golf NSW affiliated Country Golf Club. It is expected that up to 200 women will participate at Richmond Golf Club, Lynwood Country Club and Windsor Golf Club.
Run by Golf NSW, the Women's Country Golf Meeting commenced in 1957 to provide women golfers with an opportunity to play a tournament styled competition on quality golf courses in metropolitan Sydney and coastal regions. Golf NSW aims to encourage participation, fellowship, fair play, and the well-being of their member clubs and districts.
The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett said the competitors would enjoy the fantastic golf courses in Richmond, Pitt Town and Windsor.
“I know that our local golf clubs will provide a welcoming reception, and I’m sure our businesses and community will be equally warm and friendly,” the Mayor said.
“It’s always great having new visitors come to our region and I hope they’ll take some time to also explore our beautiful Hawkesbury, and everything we have to offer.
“Council has sponsored this event to help encourage more tourism to the area and we hope this will provide economic benefits to local businesses and the tourism sector in the Hawkesbury,” she said.
“I look forward to meeting the players from the many country areas within NSW, and to presenting some special trophies to the winners.”
