Light Up Windsor Success

Over 4000 people came along to celebrate and get into the Christmas spirit at the 2018 Light Up Windsor Street Fair held on Friday, 7 December.

The free entertainment and market stalls were a hit with the crowds, with many people going into the local businesses that stayed open late for the special event. Plenty of visitors also enjoyed the Hawkesbury Regional Museum displays and the pop up library.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert announced the winners of the Windsor Business Christmas Decoration competition on the night.

The Business Competition Winner:

The Market Stall Competition Winners:

  • 3rd Place: Wild Bunch Florist.

“Congratulations to all of our Light Up display winners and participants, and thank you for adding to the wonderful atmosphere tonight,” the Mayor said.

The community event included jugglers and entertainers dressed as giant candy canes, a visit from Santa and his elves, free Santa photos, businesses and cafes open late, market stalls and performances.

The Light up Windsor Street Fair is a long established initiative of the Windsor Business Group Incorporated, and in 2018 held the event in partnership with Hawkesbury City Council.

The President of Windsor Business Group Inc., Liz Mostran said she was “thrilled with the community interest and the huge economic boost for local businesses”.

“It’s been a great outcome for Windsor and the wider community, and our local businesses have benefited from the huge crowds on the night,” Ms Mostran said.

“It’s fantastic that so many people came to Light Up Windsor. It’s the biggest and best ever.

“We’re sure to see ongoing benefits from this increased exposure. Thank you to everyone for bringing our town to life. All I can say now is: keep coming to Windsor!”

Light Up Windsor, initiated by the Windsor Business Group Inc., is made possible through the dedication of a small group of volunteers who put many hours into creating a Christmas spectacular for all to enjoy.

Hawkesbury City Council worked in partnership with Windsor Business Group for this event, assisted by event sponsors Windsor RSL, Tahlula’s Event Hire, Prismatic Productions, Hawkesbury Independent and Wild Bunch Florist, Windsor.
