That someone special who’s funny, furry and purry

Are you looking for someone special in your life? What’s on your check list? Friendly, easy going, independent? Someone who is good for your health and reduces stress levels? Makes you laugh?

PCC109 - Male - 3 years - White - sweet and playful boyAdd a dash or cute and furry, and your ‘someone special’ is ready and waiting for you right now at Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter, with desexed and microchipped cats available at a discounted prices, thanks to the generosity of local rescue organisations.

The Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Mary Lyons-Buckett is encouraging people who have been thinking about getting a cat to choose one from the local Shelter rather than a pet shop.

“Hawkesbury City Council receives cats from the four local government areas of Penrith, Hornsby, Hills and Hawkesbury,” Mayor Lyons-Buckett said.

“There seems to have been a prolonged breeding season for cats this year. As a result, the Shelter has had an influx of cats over the past few days and life would be so much better for them at a welcoming and loving home.

“We are hoping to connect more cats with loving, caring, and responsible families,” the Mayor explained.

“There are plenty of personalities and colours to choose from.

“Our Shelter staff will be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have about caring for cats or what individual cats’ personalities are like to find one that suits you,” she said.

“Cats don’t need to be walked and they are perfectly happy living inside in an apartment, small home or big, and many are just as happy either living as an only pet or with other pets, including humans.

“I even know of some cats that convince themselves they are more like dogs and just want to sit and play fetch with their family,” the Mayor added.

“There’s a reason that so many people worldwide love watching funny cat videos - now you can take your own budding-cat-star home and have a reason to laugh every day as you watch their antics and see their individual personality shine through.”

So take that leap and welcome someone special into your life; you can go online to see the cats available or visit the Shelter for your own meet and greet. You’ll make a connection that you’ll never forget.
