Stage 1 Improvement Works to Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter set to commence

Stage 1 of much anticipated improvement works at the Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter at Mulgrave are set to commence in the coming week.

With the commencement of works, dogs and cats are set to enjoy better conditions while they wait to be rehomed, as part of a program of works planned at the Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter.

Stage 1 of the program involves replacing the roof over the existing dog kennels with a pitched roof that will minimise direct sunlight during summer and optimise sunlight during winter.

Hawkesbury City Council aims to have the works associated with Stage 1 completed by March.

The new works have been made possible using a $100,000 donation from a Windsor resident, and an earlier $75,000 private contribution from another donor.

The $100,000 donation was from the deceased estate of animal lover Anna Zylstra, who left money to the Shelter as part of her wish to help animals.
