2019 Sydney Writers’ Festival at Hawkesbury Central Library

Hawkesbury Library Service is pleased to be participating in the Sydney Writers’ Festival for the third successive year. On Thursday, 2 May, from 7pm to 8:30pm, Hawkesbury Library Service will host prize-winning author and journalist Matthew Condon, in conversation about his recent book, The Night Dragon.

Matthew Condon has been a journalist for more than 30 years and for the past decade has been investigating crime and corruption in Queensland and New South Wales. His new book The Night Dragon centres on the fatal Whisky Au Go Go nightclub firebombing in Brisbane in 1973. Weaving together interviews with ex-cons, police officers and witnesses, Matthew has created a compelling take of a calculating killer who spent life evading the law.

Matthew is the author of the best-selling true crime trilogy Three Crook Kings, Jacks and Jokers and All Fall Down. He was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2019 for his services to journalism and the community.

Copies of Matthew’s book will be available for purchase and signing on the night. Tickets are $5 each for the event, which includes wine and cheese. Bookings are essential, via www.hawkesburylibrary.eventbrite.com or call 4560 4460. The event will be held at Hawkesbury Central Library, 300 George Street, Windsor.
